St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) is one of the most popular herbs sold today. It was first used for medicinal purposes in ancient Greece. In past times it was used as a "protection against evil spirits," and as a cure to heal wounds. This aromatic yellow herb is common in Europe and the United States.
